Brett is the health reporter and a producer at WXXI News. He has a master’s degree from the City University of New York Graduate School of Journalism and before landing at WXXI, he was an intern at WNYC and with Ian Urbina of the New York Times. He also produced freelance reporting work focused on health and science in New York City. Brett grew up in Bremerton, Washington, and holds a bachelor’s degree from Willamette University in Salem, Oregon.

Mallory Falk covers El Paso and the border for the Texas news hub, the prototype for NPR's new system of regional journalism hubs. Previously she worked as a reporter at KRWG in Las Cruces, New Mexico, and WWNO, New Orleans Public Radio. Her reporting has aired nationally on programs including Morning Edition, All Things Considered and Here & Now. A winner of multiple regional Edward R. Murrow awards, Mallory is based in El Paso, and is part of the national Report for America project, which aims to support journalists in underserved areas of America.

Ian (pronounced "yahn") Stewart is a producer and editor for Weekend Edition and Up First.

Kate McGee covers higher education for the WBEZ Education Desk. She joined WBEZ in May 2018 after spending a year at WAMU, the NPR affiliate in Washington D.C. There, she broke a major story that revealed D.C. Public Schools were awarding diplomas to underprepared students in violation of their own policies. Born in New York City and raised in New Jersey, Kate got her public radio start at Fordham University’s WFUV. She covered education at KUT, the NPR affiliate in Austin, Texas, where she was named Texas Associated Press Radio Reporter of the Year in 2015. She’s also worked at WNYC and KUNR in Reno, Nevada. Kate’s work has appeared on NPR’s Morning Edition, All Things Considered, Here and Now, and The Takeaway. She enjoys road trips, going to baseball games, buying books she doesn’t have time to read, and drinking a good beer outdoors.
