"Built Around The Fire" by Nathan Lipps
In this edition of Thee Cardigan Professor, to celebrate National Poetry Month, we decided to bring in Dr. Nathan Lipps, to discuss his newest book of poetry, Built Around the Fire. Dr. Lipps is an Assistant Professor of English at Central State University, where he teaches Creative Writing, Environmental Humanities, Composition, and Literature. He received his Ph.D. from Binghamton University, his MFA from Wichita State University, and his BA from Western Michigan University. He is the author of the body as passage (Open Palm Print), and recipient of the Peter Taylor Fellowship (Kenyon Review), an Excellence award in Research (SUNY Binghamton), and a Poetry Fellowship (Wichita State University). His work has been published in numerous journals including Adroit, Best New Poets, Cleaver, Colorado Review, EcoTheo Review, North American Review, Third Coast, and TYPO.
