The inauguration of Dr. Cynthia Jackson-Hammond as the first female and eighth president of Central State University (CSU) on March 7 was an important milestone in the university’s 126-year history. The investiture ceremony was held at 11:00 a.m. in the Paul Roberson Cultural & Performing Arts Center. Distinguished guests included representatives from universities throughout the country and Ghana, Africa; students, faculty, staff and alumni. U.S. Congresswoman Joyce Beatty from Ohio’s 3rd district and a CSU class of 1972 alumna, presented a congressional proclamation. Remarks of support and congratulations were presented by various presidents representing universities at Delaware State, Grambling State, North Carolina A&T and Kentucky State.
